Ayurvedic hair care is a system that has been in practice for more than a thousand years. Dry hair treatment ayurvedic approach follows the same meticulous steps as any ayurvedic for hair. The only difference being the kind of oil, pre-wash blend, shampoo and paste an individual will use.

In Ayurvedic hair products there is always a pre-wash blend or concoction that is poured over the hair before the Ayurvedic hair oil or before you shampoo. For dry hair a good blend would be Hibiscus leaves (China rose) and lime juice in heated water. Use a sieve to take all the leaves or seeds out and apply to the hair before shampooing or using ayurvedic hair oil.

Ayurvedic hair oil is used 2 or 3 times a week. In ayurvedic hair care, oil is used as a protective conditioner so the hair does not dry out. Aside from that depending on the concern, the kind of oil used is matched with the hair problems. Which oil ayurvedic for hair would be best for our purpose? Bhringaraj oil from the plant Eclipta alba (Roxb.) is used in ayurvedic hair products to promote hair growth, preventing premature hair loss, as well as healing dry hair and scalp.

For effective ayurvedic hair care use a mild shampoo and conditioner. Titri oil or rosemary shampoos are good options. I am sure ayurvedic hair product ranges would carry at least one of these two choices. For conditioners Amla or shikaki powder mixed with curd is a favorite for those with dry hair, just rinse thoroughly after 30 minutes.

During hair ayurveda treatment on days when you do not oil, a paste may be blended and applied in its place. Make a paste of amla (100gm), shikaki (100gm), brahmi booti (10gm), shilajit (1/2 gm), anaarchhilka (20gm), bhringraj (10 gm) by soaking them overnight and blending. Keep the scalp coated with the paste for 1-2 hours and wash it off with warm water. Another favorite for dry hair are Fenugreek seeds. This ayurvedic hair care paste needs to be soaked overnight and then ground. It is then left on the hair for 30 minutes and then the hair is washed well.
